Breaking News: The MUD Writes… to Tell You They’re Suing (Not You…Yet)

This month, residents of WTCMUD1 received a special piece of taxpayer-funded mail from the Board. And no — it’s not a thank-you note for paying your water bill on time.
It’s a letter announcing that your local government has decided to sue your neighbors…and one MUD Board Director who you duly elected with more votes than any other Director currently sitting.
Yes, you read that right. Your MUD — the same entity responsible for water, wastewater, and doggie poop bags — is now in the business of hauling its own residents into court. The defendants? Linda Fabre, Sarah Teale, and David & Tina Flores. The crime? Participating in our community, asking questions, publishing public records, and making inconvenient facts… public.
The Board’s Greatest Hits from the Letter:
They claim we’re dangerous — though a judge already found zero evidence to support that.
They warn that we’re “impeding the work of the MUD” — apparently by attending public meetings, submitting Public Information Requests, and running a website.
They forgot to mention that on July 10th, their request to bar us from meetings, public comment, public records, and even being within 1,000 feet of the Lakeline Oaks Building… was DENIED outright by the court.
What They’re Not Telling You:
The lawsuit is packed with personal grievances, not provable facts.
Every filing in the case — from both sides — will be available for you to read on MUDucation.org.
The judge’s words in the July 10th hearing transcript make it clear: the MUD couldn’t substantiate any of their allegations. Not one.
What Happens Next:
Our next court date is September 17th. Our attorneys have filed a motion to dismiss this case, and we’ll keep you updated here. In the meantime, we’ll be delivering flyers around the neighborhood with a QR code and link to the full court documents. That way you can see for yourself what your tax dollars (36K for just the month of May) are funding.
Because if the MUD (a.k.a Hanoi Avila, Beth Jones, Carrol Norrell and Chris Rocco) is going to waste your money suing your neighbors over their constitutionally protected rights, you deserve the full story — not just the Board-approved version.
